About the draws and the prizes
What time are the lottery draws in India?
Four draws a day, all times Indian Standard Time. Dear 1 PM under Nagaland, Kerala at 3 PM, Dear 6 PM under Sikkim, and Dear 8 PM under Nagaland. Kerala draws a different lottery each day of the week. The Dear draws run every day. The Kerala bumper is drawn at 2 PM on its announced date, about six times a year.
How soon after a draw does the result appear here?
A Dear result is usually complete within about ten minutes, because the distributor publishes its sheet within about nine minutes of the draw. Kerala is slower: the signed PDF appears about ninety five minutes after the 3 PM draw, and independent publishers print the full sheet about an hour after it.
How do the lower prizes work?
The lower prizes are won on the last four digits of the ticket number, in any series. If the four digits at the end of your number are printed in that tier, the ticket wins, whatever the letters or the earlier digits are. That is why one Kerala draw pays hundreds of small prizes: the 4th prize of ₹5,000 is drawn nineteen times, the 7th prize of ₹500 seventy six times, and the 9th prize of ₹100 well over a hundred times.
What is the difference between a Kerala consolation prize and a Dear one?
They are not the same prize. In Kerala the consolation prize of ₹5,000 goes to the ticket carrying the same six digit number as the first prize in each of the other eleven series sold for that draw, so eleven tickets win it. In a Dear draw the consolation prize of ₹1,000 goes to every ticket with the first prize number in any other serial and series.
How much does a lottery ticket cost?
A Kerala weekly ticket costs ₹50. A Dear ticket costs ₹7. A Kerala bumper ticket costs ₹500. Those are the printed prices, and the tax on the ticket is already inside them.
Is there tax on lottery winnings in India?
Yes. Tax is deducted at source at 31.2% on any prize above ₹10,000, that is 30% plus the 4% health and education cess. Two things catch people out. The deduction is on the whole prize, not only the part above the threshold, so a prize of ₹10,001 is taxed on all of it. And a prize of exactly ₹10,000 is below the line and is paid in full. There is no exemption limit to subtract first.
How much GST is charged on a lottery ticket?
40% since 22 September 2025, when the GST Council raised the rate on lottery from 28%. It is paid inside the printed ticket price, so you do not pay it separately and it is never deducted from a prize.
How long do I have to claim a Kerala prize?
The Kerala result sheet itself has stated 90 days from the date of the draw, while many websites say 30. The two do not agree and we cannot settle it for you, so read the wording on the official PDF for your own draw and treat that as the answer. Either way, claim as early as you can rather than near the deadline.
How long do I have to claim a Nagaland or Sikkim prize?
Thirty days from the draw is the figure generally given for the Dear lotteries under Nagaland and Sikkim. Confirm it against the claim form and the gazette notification for your own draw, and do not leave it late.
Where do I take a winning ticket?
It depends on the amount and the state. Small prizes are paid by the agent or stockist who sold the ticket. Larger ones go to a district lottery office or to the Directorate itself, with a claim form, photo identification and PAN. The bands, the days and the documents for each state are listed on the claim pages of this site.
Can I buy lottery tickets online in India?
No. No website or app is authorised to sell you a state lottery ticket over the internet in India. State lotteries are paper lotteries, sold in person by licensed agents in the organising state and in the states that permit their sale, and the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 prohibits online money games and their advertising. Any site offering to sell you a ticket, or to enter you into a draw, is not authorised.
Why does a result sometimes say it is being confirmed?
Because two publishers agree on it but the official document has not been read yet. The numbers are almost certainly right, and the label goes as soon as the signed PDF or the gazette scan matches. If they ever disagree, the official document wins and the page is corrected with the change logged.
What happens when a draw is postponed?
Directorates postpone draws for festivals, elections and other reasons, and Kerala usually moves the draw to the next available slot while keeping the same draw number. When no stream starts and no publisher prints anything, we leave the draw marked as scheduled and say a notice is awaited. We never record a draw as not held on our own.
Does this site sell tickets or predict numbers?
No to both. LottoAaj is an independent information site with no connection to any Directorate or distributor. We sell nothing, we take nothing from readers, and we publish no predictions, lucky numbers or guessing charts. Every draw is random and independent of the one before it.
How do I check my ticket?
Open the ticket checker, pick the game and the date and type the number from your ticket. The same page checks a Kerala bumper ticket and a Teer number for Shillong, Khanapara or Juwai. The comparison happens in your browser, so the number never leaves your device. Then check the official PDF or the gazette for that draw before you go and claim anything.
Nothing here is legal or tax advice. Rules change without notice. The official result PDF or Government Gazette notification for your draw is what decides a claim.
